Conor McGregor blasts 'braindead fool' Justin Gaethje for saying he'd quit if McGregor gets UFC title shot

Justin Gaethje would consider walking away from MMA if Conor McGregor receives a title shot with a win in his comeback bout, and the former UFC two-division champion can’t help but laugh at the idea. McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) will return from injury later in the year to take on Michael Chandler in an expected welterweight bout. With McGregor’s lucrative name, a title shot with a win isn’t out of the realm of possibility – especially with fighters constantly calling him out. If that happens, Gaethje (24-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) will be very disappointed. “Would I quit if Conor won and they gave him a title shot? Probably,” Gaethje told ESPN . “That’s how hurt I would be by the actions of the company that I represent. But that’s out of my control. I just really hope that doesn’t happen. “We can imagine a lot of things, but there’s a possibility that that’s the scenario, which I would be devastated, for sure.” In response, McGregor went on Twitter. “This braindead fool got a title shot...

Ian Machado Garry promises future UFC Ireland headliner: 'Give me Jorge Masvidal in Dublin'

Ian Machado Garry vows to bring the UFC back to Ireland, and he wants one of the sport’s biggest stars as his dance partner. Unbeaten Garry (11-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) is on the rise after four octagon wins, most recently a knockout of Song Kenan  at UFC 285. “The Future” already has his next assignment set when he takes on Daniel Rodriguez on May 13. Garry has mapped out a plan to bring the UFC back to Dublin and would love to throw down with Jorge Masvidal (35-16 MMA, 12-9 UFC), who faces his training partner Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 on April 8. “I know what’s happening,” Garry said in an interview on “The Craic with Peter Carroll.” “You heard me say it to Dana (White) in the UK, right, when I was there. I said we need to get them back to Dublin. The Irish have been starved of a UFC return and I’m going to bring the UFC back, I’m going to make it happen. I’m going to be the headline fight. “I promise you, it’s coming. And it’ll be against someone huge. I’ll fight on...

Israel Adesanya on Alex Pereira rematch at UFC 287: 'This is my last shot'

Israel Adesanya has shifted his mindset going into his title fight rematch with Alex Pereira . Adesanya (23-2 MMA, 12-2 UFC) will look to reclaim the middleweight title from Pereira (7-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) when the pair run things back in the UFC 287 headliner on April 8 in Miami. Pereira rallied to knock out Adesanya in Round 5 to capture the middleweight title at UFC 281, and “The Stylebender” is seeking revenge. When asked if he has a different mindset going into his rematch with Pereira, Adesanya said it definitely has changed. “I’m hunting, and I mean that in every sense of the word,” Adesanya said on his YouTube channel. “The mindset is different, definitely. Even (coach) Eugene (Bareman) and I are on the same page. The mindset is definitely different. “I like it because it puts it all on me, and it’s kind of poetic in a way. One life: Roll the dice. This is my last shot, and I’m going to give it all I’ve got in every sense of the word.” Related Glover Teixeira: Alex Pereir...

Curtis Blaydes doesn't expect Ciryl Gane to evolve his grappling game after Jon Jones UFC title loss

Curtis Blaydes doesn’t see Ciryl Gane filling the holes in his grappling game. Gane (11-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) was quickly taken down and submitted by Jon Jones (27-1 MMA, 21-1 UFC) in their vacant heavyweight title fight earlier this month at UFC 285. Wrestling also cost Gane in his title fight against Francis Ngannou at UFC 270, in which he was taken down four times. “Bon Gamin” is already back to work and intent on improving his grappling , but the UFC’s leader in most takedowns landed doesn’t see Gane ever reaching a high enough level. “I think he’s like a lot of guys: He got away without having to wrestle, just like Francis when he fought Stipe (Miocic)” Blaydes said in an interview with LowKick MMA . “He got away with not having to learn how to wrestle. It’s not just him. “There’s a lot of guys with holes in their games because they only focus on one aspect of MMA. It’s not like we didn’t already know that it was a hole. I know a lot of people are expecting him just to plug i...

Olivier Aubin-Mercier: 'Showman' Shane Burgos won't win PFL season because he takes too many risks

Olivier Aubin-Mercier doesn’t think Shane Burgos has the fighting style to win the PFL season. 2022 lightweight champ Aubin-Mercier will welcome UFC veteran Burgos to the PFL when the pair square off in the 2023 PFL 3 headliner on April 14 at The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. Aubin-Mercier (17-5) admits a matchup such as Burgos (15-3) makes him nervous but says his fan-favorite style won’t pay off in the PFL. “Am I scared for Shane Burgos? Yes I am,” Aubin-Mercier told MMA Junkie Radio . “I do not think he’s going to win the tournament. Even though he was the best in the tournament, I do not think he’s gonna win the tournament because he’s too – he takes risks. He’s really a showman. “He likes to be in traffic, he likes to throw a lot of punches, he’s taking a lot of punches too, and I think in PFL it’s gonna be really hard. I think he’s going to have some difficulties to adjust. I think he’s going to have to change his style a little bit. But with that being said, I’...

After undergoing '16 surgeries,' Ryan Hall targets fall return: 'We're on the back end of it'

Ryan Hall has been plagued with injuries in the past year. Hall (9-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) hasn’t competed since a December 2021 win over Darrick Minner, but the jiu-jitsu wizard says he’s just had a string of bad luck ever since. According to Hall, he’s gone under the knife 16 times to repair all sorts of injuries, including a torn ACL. “It’s a bit of a saga,” Hall told MMA Junkie. “I spent about 10 years not being injured, then I just got a couple of bad luck (injuries), like getting fallen on a couple of times. (I) tore a hip flexor really badly prior to my first fight in 2021, and had a really, really bad tear in the bottom of my foot. So a lot of things started to add up. I broke my hand in that first fight in 2021, had that fight in December, and then went into the next year. “I was going to do ADCC, going to do some competitions, and I had actually just agreed to a fight in August of 2022, but unfortunately got fallen on, tore my ACL, tore my meniscus and it’s been 16 surger...
