Promise fulfilled: Rap star Drake gifts Paddy Pimblett Rolex after UFC London win

Drake won big betting on Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann at UFC Fight Night 208 and he promised to reward them. Drake reportedly earned a $3.7 million payout for placing bets on Pimblett and McCann to win their bouts in London. Pimblett submitted Jordan Leavitt in Round 2 and McCann knocked Hannah Goldy out starting with a spinning back elbow that was the beginning of the end. VIDEO: Floyd Mayweather's bodyguard shoves RIZIN opponent Mikuru Asakura during faceoff

Things are heating up between Floyd Mayweather and Mikuru Asakura . The two fighters had a tense staredown following a press conference on Tuesday in Hawaii promoting their upcoming boxing exhibition bout. Mayweather and Asakura are scheduled to clash at Rizin 38 on Sept. 25 in Japan. During their staredown, both fighters got up close and personal, and Mayweather’s bodyguard shoved Asakura after the Japanese star got too close to the former boxing champion. You can watch their staredown in the video above. Viktoriia Dudakova has recovery ahead, but at least got Dana White's praise – and a UFC deal

LAS VEGAS – Viktoriia Dudakova was the only winner to go the distance Tuesday at Dana White’s Contender Series 52. Because of that, there was a little concern that she might not get a UFC contract given the other four winners had highlight-reel type finishes. But White saw something in her performance and demeanor that put her over the top, and for the third straight week, each winner on the show got a UFC deal. “I’m very happy. (Getting to the UFC is) something that I was working on so hard,” Dudakova said at her post-fight news conference at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. “I was worried really bad (I wouldn’t get a contract), but it seems like Dana saw something about me.” Dudakova (6-0) said an injury that happened after she got to the U.S. hampered her in the fight. It kept her from fully training in the final weeks before her women’s strawweight bout against Maria Silva (8-1). She said an MRI will determine just how bad she’s hurt, but that she’s “ready to fight anybody at any

Report: Stockholm police arrested UFC's Darren Till for DUI back in July

UFC middleweight Darren Till was arrested last month in Stockholm after police there busted him for drunk driving. According to Swedish national newspaper Expressen , which cited a police report, the arrest occurred on the night of July 31 after Till was pulled over for speeding in a silver Audi with English registration plates. A woman also was present with Till; they both got out of the car. According to police, Till initially stated that the woman was behind the wheel after she said it was Till who drove. Till told police that he “drank one to two beers” while at a restaurant. Police observed Till to be “noticeably intoxicated,” and he submitted to a breath test for alcohol, which came back three times above the legal limit. Till eventually retracted his statement and admitted to driving drunk. He accepted the penalty order, which wasn’t disclosed. Video: Is Demetrious Johnson the best flyweight in the world again?

Demetrious Johnson is a champion once again. Nearly four years after he left the UFC for ONE Championship, “Mighty Mouse” captured another title when he knocked out Adriano Moraes in the ONE on Prime Video 1 headliner. The win gave Johnson a measure of revenge after a knockout loss to Moraes in his first title attempt. Johnson has only lost twice is the past decade. In 2018 in what turned out to be his final UFC fight, he lost the flyweight title to Henry Cejudo by split decision – and in that fight, nearly half the MMA analyst scores tracked by MMADecisions.com had Johnson winning the fight – including three who thought he not only won, but took four rounds. To say DJ’s run has been impressive is an understatement. But after he lost to Cejudo, he took a slight tumble in the flyweight rankings and has been sitting behind current UFC champ Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno in the USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie flyweight rankings for a minute. Was his win over Moraes enough t

UFC signs 'Russian Ronda' Irina Alekseeva after release from Bellator

Get ready, UFC fans. “Russian Ronda” is on her way to the octagon. Flyweight Irina Alekseeva – who goes by the nickname “Russian Ronda” (as in Rousey), according to her Tapology page – has signed a contract to join the UFC. Alekseeva’s manager, Brian Butler of SuckerPunch Entertainment, announced the signing Tuesday on Instagram . View this post on Instagram A post shared by Brian Butler-Au (@suckerpunchent) Butler told MMA Junkie that Alekseeva will jump right into competing on the main UFC roster and won’t appear on this season of Dana White’s Contender Series. Alekseeva (4-1), 32, is a three-time silver medalist at the Russian Judo Championships and a Russian and European gold medalist at Sambo Worlds. Additionally, she is a multiple-time “hand-to-hand combat champion.” Alekseeva’s arrival to the UFC comes after she was released from Bellator, which signed her to a multifight contract in December 2020 . Chael Sonnen: Conor McGregor's 'championship run is over,' but he's not aware of it

Chael Sonnen thinks Conor McGregor needs to come to terms with his championship aspirations. McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC), who’s currently healing from a leg break suffered in a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021, had set his eyes on then-lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and then-welterweight champ Kamaru Usman. The former UFC dual-champ is 1-3 in his past four fights, but still is being called out by the likes of Oliveira , who faces Islam Makhachev for the vacant lightweight title in the UFC 280 headliner on Oct. 22. But Sonnen thinks McGregor’s time as champion is done. ”Conor McGregor’s championship run is over,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel. “That’s true. That’s mean. Conor did not come out and tell you guys because he’s not aware of it.” Sonnen used as an example Rafael dos Anjos, who recently said he had his last title run and wants to get matched up against fellow veterans moving forward. While Sonnen doesn’t think McGregor will recapture gold, he stil

Sean O’Malley would love to eat with Paddy Pimblett but warns that weight gain 'will age you quick'

Add Sean O'Malley to the list of people who have cautioned Paddy Pimblett for ballooning up in between fights. Ex-UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw critiqued Pimblett , UFC president Dana White expressed concern , and now O’Malley has chimed in. Although O’Malley has an amicable relationship with Pimblett (19-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC), who has reached up to 200 pounds after fights , he thinks the lightweight star seriously needs to watch his weight. “It will age you quick,” O’Malley said on “The Timbo Sugar Show” podcast. “I never really get fat ever, but even when I’m bigger, it’s like I can’t train. I mean, I still can and I feel stronger at that weight, but it’s not realistic. I’m not going to be 159 (pounds) in the cage ever. I get in the cage 155, 154, whatever, so it’s just not good. “It’s not good. He probably never was really making a ton of money. VIDEO: Ciryl Gane, Tai Tuivasa strike a shoey pose at Eiffel Tower ahead of UFC Paris

The UFC will make it’s long-awaited debut in France on Saturday. Ciryl Gane (10-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) meets Tai Tuivasa (15-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 209 at Accor Arena in Paris, and it’s only right for the headliners to face off in front of one of the world’s most famous landmarks. The pair posed in front of the Eiffel Tower, but of course, Tuivasa had to add his own touch by busting out some sneakers for a shoey photo with “Bon Gamin,” who even guided Tuivasa on how to pose. Michael Bisping heaps praise on Leon Edwards after he wins UFC title by flattening Kamaru Usman

Michael Bisping has given his thoughts on Leon Edwards’ dramatic title victory at UFC 278. Many years ago at UFC 199, Michael Bisping knocked Luke Rockhold out to become the new UFC middleweight champion. ‘The Count’ was considered to be an underdog in that contest but despite that, he was still able to pull a rabbit out of the hat in the form of a fantastic KO that crowned him the first UFC champ... Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson confirms plans to fight again: 'I can't leave MMA fans like that'

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson isn’t a stranger to combat sports these days, but it’s been quite a while since he’s actually stepped into a cage or ring for competition of his own. In recent years he’s frequented Triller Fight Club and Bellator events, either as a “coach,” ambassador, or simply a fan. However, it’s nearing three years since his most recent fight, a TKO loss to Fedor Emelianenko . Rumors of a boxing match against fellow Triller Triad Combat coach Shannon Briggs have long circulated, but nothing concrete has ever been solidified. Jackson, 44, revealed in a recent interview with TMZ that the bout does indeed have legs, as details are still being worked out. Above all else, he plans to continue fighting. The image of him crashing to the canvas as Emelianenko towered over him during his first TKO loss in 14 years is not the everlasting impression he wants to leave fans with. “No, man. I ain’t done,” Jackson said. “I’m not happy with my performance in my last fight. I can

Listen to the snap: Cage Titans bout ends with graphic arm break after fighter stands up with keylock

An amateur MMA bout Friday at Cage Titans 55 in Plymouth, Mass. ended in audibly and visibly grotesque fashion. Plymouth Memorial Hall quickly turned into a house of horror upon the finishing sequence of a preliminary card bout between bantamweight debutants. When Kyle Pavao snatched a keylock and stood up, he simultaneously snapped the left arm of his opponent Wayne Downer . The snap sounded throughout the venue, echoed by groans and moans from terrorized fans in attendance. Upon the snap, Pavao released the arm immediately and Downer faceplanted to the canvas as referee Steve Rita rushed to help. Sean Strickland still one fight away from UFC title shot? '100 percent,' says manager

SALT LAKE CITY – Although he’s coming off a loss, Sean Strickland might not be in as deep of a hole as initially perceived. Strickland (25-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) failed during a title eliminator against Alex Pereira at UFC 276 in July when he lost via first-round knockout , but that doesn’t mean he necessarily took a step back, according to his manager Tim Simpson, of Paradigm Sports. The loss to Pereira snapped a six-fight winning streak for Strickland. One fight after his knockout defeat, Jared Cannonier lost to middleweight champion Israel Adesanya . Now, Strickland and Cannonier are matched up for an Oct. 15 main event. Simpson manages Adesanya and Strickland, as well as another middleweight contender, Jack Hermansson, who fights Derek Brunson on Dec. 3 . When Simpson projects the short-term future, Simpson thinks title opportunities are at stakes for his clients. “Yeah, 100 percent,” Simpson recently told MMA Junkie. “Because if… Israel goes and beats Alex, Sean goes and beats J

BKFC 28 faceoffs get weird: Christine Ferea shoves Taylor Starling; fighter tells opponent, 'I'm gonna f*ck your dog'

Things got a little bit weird Friday at the BKFC 28 ceremonial faceoffs. Yes, I know oftentimes BKFC and weird go hand-in-hand. Shock factor is a cheap-yet-successful method of attracting eyeballs. Usually for BKFC, it’s the name recognition of former UFC fighters that brings in the most attention. The next step down is presenting unique, unknown individuals who sometimes look like a decked-out “create a character” from a video game. But Friday, the next layer down was revealed: trash talk so vilely cringe that it has you second-guessing if you heard the person correctly. I’m not talking about the main event shove (see above) between Christine Ferea and Taylor Starling , no – although that’s a solid way to sell a fight, ladies. Well done. I’m talking about the preliminary card bout, in which one fighter ( Antonio Soto III ) told his opponent ( Joshua Morales ), ‘After I know you out, I’m gonna f*ck your dog.’ I’m not sure if it was the desired effect to self-own, but that see

UFC 279 free fight: Nate Diaz flips off, beats up Donald Cerrone

Middle fingers are part of Nate Diaz ’s repertoire, as was evidenced by the two he showed to Donald Cerrone in between rounds during their clash at UFC 141 . The bout was the co-main event to Alistair Overeem’s TKO of Brock Lesnar , as part of a card that took place Dec. 30, 2011 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The bad blood was evident from the moment the pre-fight promotion began. At a pre-fight ceremonial faceoff, Diaz infamously smacked Cerrone’s cowboy hat off and shoved him. When it came time to fight, the respect level continued its flatline. In between Round 2 and Round 3, Diaz flipped the double bird at Cerrone, who just received a massive pump-up speech from coach Greg Jackson. The double bird was a one-upped version of the single middle finger Cerrone had given him earlier in the fight. As a whole, the fight was largely one-sided in Diaz’s favor. He cruised to an impressive 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 unanimous decision win over “Cowboy.” Five years later, in 2015, C
